December Bucket List
Keep in mind that the ideas below are just suggestions. Feel free to use this as a template and swap out any activity for something that fits your life better.
Remember, don’t overthink it or strive for perfection; the whole point is simply to enjoy yourself.
1. Decorate your home with fresh greenery or simple DIY winter décor.
Let’s be honest, most of us decorate right after Thanksgiving. But if you’ve waited, December 1st is the perfect time to give your space a cozy winter-wonderland makeover.
2. Create a Mindfulness winter ritual.
Setting a small seasonal routine can support your self-care and help you move through the colder months with more ease. It can also bring peace of mind, lowering stress and anxiety as the season shifts.
3. Visit a Christmas or holiday market.
This is always such a fun activity, especially if you still need to do some Christmas shopping. Plus, these markets usually have cute holiday décor, shops, and treats that instantly put you in the festive mood.
4. Try a new indoor workout
Since the temperatures drop this time of year, indoor workouts just make sense. Low-impact routines are ideal if you’re looking for something gentle but still effective. Or bring out your yoga mat for a relaxing flow which may be exactly what you need to ease into the winter season.
5. Visit a tree farm and pick your own tree
If you haven’t grabbed your tree yet, early December is the perfect time. Bring some friends or family along and go on the hunt for your perfect tree. Breathe in the crisp air, enjoy the fresh pine smell, and soak up the company for a day or evening you won’t soon forget.
6. Have a tree-trimming party or gathering
Once your tree is home, make decorating it an event. Invite friends or family, pour some drinks, snack on holiday treats, put on some music or a movie, and turn your tree into something magical together.
7. Put a healthy spin on your favorite holiday drink
Seasonal drinks are notorious for being full of empty calories and processed sugar. Why not make a copycat version at home? You’ll have more control to create a healthier recipe that’s just as tasty without all the extra ingredients.
8. Go ice skating at a local rink
Ice skating rinks really bring the winter vibes. It’s usually cold inside, so you have to wear warm clothes, and not to mention, you’re literally skating on ice. It’s a fun activity to do with loved ones, and if you can’t skate, hang out in a booth and sip some hot cocoa.
9. Take a hot bubble bath with a winter-scented soak
Cold weather is the perfect excuse for an extra-long hot bath. Try holiday-scented bath bombs or soaps like warm vanilla sugar to relax and soothe your body and soul.
10. Try a guided meditation with winter music or ambiance
Meditation is an important part of your wellness journey, and a guided practice can help bring peace of mind and a deeper sense of mindfulness. You can switch things up by adding scented candles or seasonal incense, or swapping your usual music for calming winter tones.
11. Explore a bookstore and pick up a seasonal tale
Visiting a bookstore can be a magical experience. Take your time thumbing through the shelves in search of a winter story that brings out the whimsical vibes of the holiday season.
12. Throw a holiday-themed puzzle or craft night
Make it a mini celebration! Invite friends or family, turn up the music, and dive into a seasonal activity. Work on a Christmas puzzle, make stockings to hang over the fireplace, or try a holiday sip-and-paint with festive drinks. It’s a fun way to connect with loved ones and embrace the winter spirit.
13. Set up a reading nook
Find a quiet corner in your home, preferably near a window, and dress it up with candles or fairy lights. Add a blanket and a couple of pillows to create the ultimate cozy reading spot to enjoy your new book. Don’t forget your favorite hot beverage!
14. Bake a healthy version of holiday snack
Just like drinks, holiday treats often have a reputation for being indulgent. Baking a healthier version lets you partake in them guilt-free. Start with recipes that are easy to modify like peanut butter or short bread cookies, so that you can create a truly festive and lighter holiday snack.
15. Take a walk to see the neighborhood’s holiday lights
This is a fan favorite holiday activity. Whether walking or driving through different neighborhoods, it’s so much fun to take in the lights and decorations. It’s especially enchanting for kids and adds a little extra seasonal cheer.

Some people are amazing at gift wrapping, and others…not so much. But that shouldn’t stop you from giving it a try. There are plenty of instructional videos to help you up your wrapping game. Don’t take it too seriously, just enjoy the process with music or a cup of tea. You might even find it boosts your mindfulness.
18. Host or join a holiday tasting night
Gather a variety of seasonal beverages and treats you’ve never tried before and rate them. You could even make it a challenge by sampling unusual or extreme flavors. It’s an entertaining way to try something new with friends and family.

Many people love sending cards with seasonal images or photos. Make yours extra special by handwriting your message and signing your name at the bottom.
20. Drive through a big light display with music and hot drinks

21. Attend a festive event
Depending on where you live, many towns love throwing festivals, concerts, or gatherings. Mark the date on your calendar and take a buddy with you. There may be holiday foods, rides, or live music. Take advantage of your town’s events and bask in the holiday cheer.

Most people wait all year to play their favorite holiday tunes. Why not collect everyone’s favorites and throw a party? You can get dressed up, have food and drinks, and dance the night away.
23. Have a self-care night
Try dedicating a whole evening to yourself. Put on some music and cook the food you want to eat. Do a hair or face mask. Give yourself a manicure and or a pedicure. Rub some moisturizing lotion or body oils on your skin. Just make it a night that all about you.
24. Have a cozy holiday slumber party.
If you’re not tired of throwing parties, why not invite some buddies over for a night? You can have a movie marathon with everyone’s holiday favorites, bring out the snacks, pajamas, and blankets. 25. Take a long winter walk and snap a few pictures of the scenery
Next to fall, winter has some of the best scenery, just my opinion. Why not enjoy it by taking a stroll through a nearby park or neighborhood and snapping a few pictures that really capture the essence of the season? It’s a great way to get in your steps while soaking in the winter views.
26. Do a winter indoor strength workout
You can’t forget about your strength training! Winter weather has a way of making you want to stay in bed all day and soak up all the warmth you can. However, it’s important to keep up with your strength training, especially in winter, since strong muscles help keep you warm. If you’re not a fan of venturing outside to the gym, try a simple indoor workout instead.
27. Prepare a warm winter soup or stew with seasonal veggies
Ooohh, soup! Nothing says winter like a warm homemade bowl of soup. After all, it’s probably freezing outside. And there are so many recipes you can try. If you’re not used to cooking, try one with few ingredients or simple instructions and dig in.
28. Bake flavored marshmallows or healthy holiday treats
Did you know you can make different-flavored marshmallows? Pick a few recipes and get creative. You’ll have a blast making them while also getting a little messy in the kitchen. Then sit around an open fire and roast them with graham crackers and chocolate.
29. Light a scented candle while journaling or reflecting on the year
As the year comes to a close, grab a scented candle and a journal to reflect on the past months. This mindfulness practice builds awareness and encourages you to strive for more. When you’re done, make a list of everything you hope to achieve in the next year.
30. Make a vision board for the upcoming year
Since the year is ending and you’ve already made your list of goals, create a vision board! Use images, cutouts, and colors to bring your desires to life for the coming season. It’ll help you organize your goals, stay motivated, and it’s just plain fun.
31. End the year with something fun.
On the last day of the year, attend a New Year’s Eve party or host one of your own. Get dressed up, bask in the festivities, and ring in the new year with all your favorite people.
